Federal Government Invests in Building a Better Future through Facing History

 We are pleased to announce Facing History and Ourselves’ ambitious expansion plans to affect large-scale social change. Over the next three years, we plan to double the number of educators we engage with across Canada and strengthen our innovative work with middle and high school students to create a more informed and engaged citizenry. 

With an $850,000 commitment from the Department of Canadian Heritage, Inter-Action: Multiculturalism Funding Program, Facing History will increase the number of professional development offerings, create new digital courses and resources, and for the first time, offer these resources and professional development in French. Through these new platforms, we can equip more teachers and students with the tools to have meaningful conversations on prejudice, antisemitism, and bias so classrooms can be models of civil society.

 I am so proud of Canadian Heritage funding programs like Inter-Action, which play a vital role in supporting important and innovative programs like Facing History and Ourselves. Diversity and inclusion are Canada’s strengths, and thanks to the tools provided by Facing History and Ourselves, tomorrow’s leaders will be empowered with the knowledge to improve our inclusive society and strengthen our democracy.

 The government's contribution covers just under half the cost of our three year expansion plan. We plan to lean on our current partnerships and explore new philanthropic opportunities to support the rest of our initiatives.
