Meet your Facing History staff liaison for 2015-2016

Posted by Jasmine Wong on October 12, 2015

As many of you know, by joining our educator network you receive lifelong, ongoing support from staff at Facing History and Ourselves for free! (thanks to grants and fundraising). You may wonder - Who picks up the phone and answers your emails when you contact us for support?

In the past, many of you have called, emailed or met with Leora, myself or Ben Gross to do collaborative lesson planning, talk through a classroom issue, as a guest teacher, or to suggest resources for your classroom. We love being in conversation with you. This year, I will be away on maternity leave and in my place is Cheryl Payne-Stevens, a phenomenal teacher and your go-to program staff member at Facing History Canada for 2015-2016.

I know Cheryl as an incredibly humble, positive, hard working, experienced and knowledgeable teacher and leader. She comes to this role with a high school English and History background, she has taught civics, history and the genocide elective course for many years, she is a department head with the Peel District School Board and is also well versed in Facing History and Ourselves ideas and resources. I can't wait for you to meet her yourself. Until then, I wish you all a wonderful year.
